Datumvia (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Crossdrafting. For any privacy question, contact us at info@datumvia.com.
By default, everything stays on your device. The app does not run its own servers and does not collect your job data for itself.
When you archive a job, the app creates a single archive file (a .zip
containing that job’s PDF, photos and data) and uploads it to a cloud account
you connect — such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. You
sign in to your own account through that provider’s own secure sign-in screen;
the app never sees your password.
The app asks for the narrowest permission each provider offers for the way it is used:
drive.file permission. The app can
only see and manage files it created itself, and cannot read anything else in your
Drive.Files.ReadWrite.All, plus
Sites.Read.All only if you choose a shared company folder. Microsoft
does not offer a “files this app created” permission that works with OneDrive for
Business, so this is the narrowest option that works. In practice the app only writes
the files described here and only reads folder names so you can pick where they go
— but the permission itself is broader than Google Drive’s, and we would rather say so
plainly.
The app never reads, changes or deletes your other files. It only works with the files
and folders it creates: Datumvia Archives and Datumvia Working.
You can delete an uploaded archive at any time from your own cloud account, and disconnect the app at any time in Datumvia’s Settings or from your cloud provider’s own security settings.
With a cloud account connected, you can also turn on backup of jobs in progress, so a lost or broken phone doesn’t lose a job before it’s archived. You choose in Settings: Off, Wi-Fi only (recommended, to avoid mobile data charges) or Any network. It is off until you choose.
When it is on:
Datumvia Working folder in the cloud
account you connected, and kept up to date as you edit.A business can send everyone’s archives to one shared folder instead of each person’s own. Whoever sets it up picks the folder and shares an invite link with their team.
That link identifies the chosen folder only — it contains no passwords and no access tokens, and grants nothing by itself. Each person still signs in with their own account, and can only use the folder if their account already has access to it.
Companies can also do this set-up on Datumvia’s website, at datumvia.com/setup, without the app. That page signs in to Microsoft or Dropbox directly from your browser. The sign-in stays in that browser tab: it is never sent to Datumvia or stored by us, and is used only to approve Datumvia for your organisation (Microsoft), create the shared folders, and produce the invite link.
Be aware that archives and in-progress job backups saved to a company location can be seen by everyone with access to it, including its owner. That is the purpose of the feature, but it means your jobs there are visible to your colleagues.
Datumvia’s use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the
Google API Services User Data Policy,
including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, the app
uses the Google Drive drive.file permission solely to upload, restore and
manage the job backups and archives you create. We do not use Google user data for
advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not transfer it to others except as
needed to provide the backup feature you requested or as required by law.
The GPS site map and the map page in site reports use satellite imagery from Esri. To show a map, the app downloads the map images for the area being viewed from Esri’s servers, so Esri can see which area was requested and your device’s internet address, as with any website. No job names, photos, notes or account details are sent. Downloaded map images are kept temporarily on your device so the same area isn’t downloaded again.
Subscriptions are bought through the App Store or Google Play, which handle the payment. We don't see or store your card details; Apple or Google tell the app only whether your subscription is active. Company licences are arranged by email and invoice. A licence is a short code that the app checks on the phone itself, without contacting us.
If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it automatically sends a crash report to Sentry, a service we use to find and fix bugs. A report contains technical details only: the error and where in the app it happened, the app version, phone model and operating system version, and a random identifier for the install.
Before a report is sent, the app removes job names, file paths, email addresses, web links and access tokens. Reports never include your drawings, photos, captions or locations. You can turn crash reports off at any time in Settings → Privacy.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. Your data leaves your device only when:
Job data remains on your device until you delete it. Deleting a job removes it from the device and moves any in-progress backup of it to your cloud provider’s recycle bin. Archives you uploaded to your own cloud remain under your control and can be deleted from that account at any time.
